I’m a self-published author with IngramSpark and I get to call the shots!

I have no idea how to weld together steel pipes or lay bricks, but I’m learning a lot about writing and a lot about publishing having forged ahead to do it myself, and I’m super excited to share that my debut novella just won a gold in Cover Design and a silver in Over-All Design for coming-of-age with The BookFest.

Publishing with IngramSpark, a self-publishing platform from the book distributor, Ingram, allowed me to explore my own ideas. I was able to write the book I wanted to write, help design the cover, and find ways to market the book by becoming a member of the IBPA (Independent Book Publisher’s Association).

For such a long time, I felt alone in a sea of infinite failure because I couldn’t secure an agent or a traditional publisher, but I continued to forge ahead and I taught myself about self-publishing. I even started my own publishing company — Tattered Script Publishing- hoping that one day I can share what I know with first-time authors and help them get a leg up in the industry by publishing their first books.

Why wait?! That’s what I am learning. Why wait for someone else to answer our needs when there are avenues we can go down to figure things out for ourselves?
